Cesanese

Red wine

Cesanese is a light, soft red grape grown almost exclusively around Lazio, the region surrounding Rome. Historically it was often made sweet and fizzy (frizzante or spumante styles), but today most producers make it as a dry, easy-drinking still red best enjoyed young. It carries a slightly bitter edge that's part of its rustic charm.

Also known as Bonvino Nero, Cesanese Nero.
