Coonawarra, in South Australia's Limestone Coast, is famous for its narrow strip of bright red "terra rossa" soil over limestone, considered one of the country's premier terroirs for red wine. Cabernet Sauvignon is the region's signature grape today, having overtaken the historically dominant Shiraz.
