Port is Portugal's iconic fortified wine, made by adding neutral grape spirit partway through fermentation to halt it, leaving a sweet wine with 19-22% alcohol. Touriga Nacional and Touriga Francesa are its most prized red grapes, drawn from over a hundred varieties officially sanctioned for production.
