Scheurebe

Scheurebe is an aromatic German white grape, a Riesling cross bred in 1916, known for bold blackcurrant and grapefruit aromas when the grapes are picked fully ripe. It's historically most famous in sweet, botrytized dessert wines — made from grapes affected by "noble rot," a beneficial fungus that concentrates sugar and flavor — though dry versions have become increasingly common. It carries less acidity than Riesling but more overt, pungent fruit character.
