Madeira is a fortified wine from the volcanic Portuguese island of the same name, deliberately heat-aged through either artificial warming (estufagem) or slow loft aging (canteiro) to create remarkably long-lived wines. Styles range from bone-dry Sercial to lusciously sweet Malmsey.
