Gaglioppo is the backbone of Cirò, the signature red wine of Calabria in Italy's deep south. DNA studies point to Sangiovese as one of its parents. It's full-bodied, high in alcohol, and firmly tannic, needing real time in the bottle to soften into something smooth and complex.
