Negroamaro

Red wine Texas

Negroamaro is the deeply colored, rustic red grape of Puglia in southern Italy's hot, sun-baked heel. Its name roughly translates to "black and bitter," a nod to the earthy, faintly bitter edge that runs alongside its dark fruit character. It's traditionally blended (notably with Malvasia Nera) but also bottled solo as a medium-to-full-bodied red, and increasingly turned into fresh, fruity rosato.

Also known as Abruzzese, Amaronero, Lacrima, Negramaro, Nero Amaro.
