Primitivo

Primitivo is the Italian identity of the same grape known as Zinfandel in California and Tribidrag in its native Croatia — all three are genetically identical but marketed as distinct regional specialties. Grown mainly in Puglia in Italy's south, it ripens early and accumulates high sugar, producing bold, high-alcohol red wines packed with dark berry fruit and a touch of dried fig. Primitivo di Manduria is the grape's most celebrated Italian expression.
