CaliforniaPetite Sirah (genetically known as Durif, a crossing of Syrah and Peloursin bred in France in the 1880s) makes intensely dark, inky wines despite its confusingly modest name. It's full-bodied with very high tannin, giving it a firm, gripping structure built to age for decades, alongside black pepper and blueberry notes.
