Plavac Mali

Plavac Mali is a bold, full-bodied red grape native to the Dalmatian coast of Croatia, related to Zinfandel through a shared parent grape. It ripens unevenly in the hot Adriatic sun, producing wines with high tannins — the dry, gripping sensation you feel on your gums and tongue — and high alcohol. Expect rich, dark-fruited wines with notes of dried fig and warm spice that can age for years.
