Poulsard

Red wine Jura

Poulsard (also spelled Ploussard) is a thin-skinned red grape from the Jura region of France. Despite being genetically a dark-skinned variety, its skins are so low in color and tannin (the gripping compounds that give red wine its structure) that the wine comes out extremely pale, sometimes almost like a rosé or even a white. What it lacks in color it makes up for in delicate floral aromatics.

Also known as Pelossard, Ploussard.
