Sankt Laurent

Red wine

Sankt Laurent is a highly aromatic dark-skinned grape grown mostly in Austria and the Czech Republic, and DNA studies show it's an offspring of Pinot Noir. Like its famous parent, it produces medium-bodied, silky wines with fine tannins — the gripping sensation on your gums — and refreshing acidity from the cool climates it favors. It ripens early and is prone to poor fruit-set, which keeps yields (and plantings) small.

Also known as Blauer Saint Laurent, Laurenztraube, Saint Laurent, Svatovavřinecké, Szentlőrinc.
