Seyval Blanc

White wine English wine

Seyval Blanc is a French-American hybrid grape bred for cold-hardiness, now a workhorse white in England, Canada, and the northeastern United States. It produces crisp, citrusy wine with a mineral edge reminiscent of white Burgundy, and is one of the few hybrids that takes well to oak aging and malolactic fermentation (a winemaking step that softens acidity and adds a creamy texture).

Also known as Seyve-Villard 5-276.
