Alsace

Region

Alsace, sheltered from Atlantic weather by the Vosges mountains, has a dry, sunny climate over geologically diverse soils that suit aromatic white grapes especially well. It is the only major French region with a strong tradition of varietal labeling, known above all for bone-dry Rieslings and richly perfumed Gewürztraminers, alongside Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc.
