Prosecco is Italy's hugely popular sparkling wine from the Veneto and Friuli-Venezia Giulia, made mainly from the Glera grape and typically fermented in tank (the Charmat method) rather than in bottle, which keeps it fresh, fruity and affordable. Since 2000 it has grown into a global phenomenon, prized for its light, easy-drinking apple and pear character.
