Encruzado is considered Portugal's finest white grape, grown almost exclusively in the granite hills of the Dao region. It combines riper, fuller texture than most Portuguese whites with a backbone of fresh acidity, which is why it's the grape winemakers reach for when they want a white wine serious enough to age, sometimes with a touch of oak.
Also known as Salgueirinho.
