Moscato Rosa

Moscato Rosa is a rare, intensely perfumed member of the Muscat family, named for its pink-to-copper colored skin. Grown mostly in Italy's Trentino-Alto Adige region, its naturally sweet grapes are fermented with their skins on, like a red wine — a process called maceration — giving the finished wine a striking ruby color despite being a dessert wine rather than a table red. Yields are low and the vine is finicky to grow, so bottles are treated as rare, special-occasion treats.
