Nicknamed the "Barolo of the South," Aglianico is southern Italy's most structured red grape, producing deep garnet wines with firm, gripping tannins and high acidity that demand a few years in the bottle to soften. With age, the tannins integrate and the wine opens up to reveal plum, dark cherry, and even chocolate-like richness — the backbone of Campania's Taurasi and Basilicata's Aglianico del Vulture.

Also known as Ellanico, Gnanico, Uva Nera.
