Provence is southern France's rosé heartland, with a hot, breezy Mediterranean climate and varied limestone, schist, and clay soils. More than half its output is dry rosé built on Grenache, Cinsault, and especially Mourvèdre, which also anchors the structured, age-worthy reds of Bandol.
