Trebbiano (known as Ugni Blanc in France) is one of the world's most widely planted white grapes, prized for its high yields and sharp, high acidity rather than deep flavor. It makes light, fresh, fairly neutral wines and is also the backbone of Cognac and Armagnac brandy, since high-acid, low-flavor base wine distills cleanly.
